Planetary orbits, simulated in Blender

Blender · physics simulation · animation

Modelling planetary orbits and rendering them as animations — getting the motion right first, then making it look good. Built to understand orbital mechanics by constructing it, not just reading about it.

About

I'm Rohan Goundry, a secondary school student in Sheffield (Year 11). I make simulations — mostly in Blender, mostly of things that orbit.

Right now that means planetary systems: setting up the physics, letting it run, and rendering the results so you can actually see how orbital mechanics behaves. The part I keep coming back to is that the simulation only looks right when the physics is right.

Long-term I'm aiming for astrophysics. This site tracks what I build on the way — through GCSEs, A-levels, and whatever comes after.
